Motor vehicle accidents can be a very "painful" experience, even if you are lucky not to be injured in the collision.
People get very stressed after an accident, worrying not only about their health, but also, who is going to pay their medical bills, the damage to their vehicle, and any negative consequences on their car insurance.

The next thing to do is to call your car insurance company to report the accident, even if it was not your fault. Your policy requires prompt notice of an accident, regardless of fault, if there may be possible personal injury or car damage to either party involved.
Your insurance company will most likely take a recorded telephone statement from you regarding the details of the accident.
If you are injured in an auto accident, and the accident was not your fault, you may be able to sue the responsible person depending upon the severity of your injuries, and the tort threshold you've chosen under the policy.
As far as any medical bills for injuries suffered in a car accident, these expenses get submitted to your own auto insurance company, regardless of whose fault the accident was.
A damage claim for your vehicle can be submitted to either your own insurance company, if you have collision coverage, or to the other driver's insurance company if the accident was more than 50% that person's fault.
As far as negative impact on your insurance coverage and premiums, you will not be affected if the accident was not your fault.
